"Keith and Richard’s THIRD presentation continues with the history of the Players’ Theatre, a legendary British institution. Using archive footage with examples of how the Players’ company became an integral part of the ‘The Good Old Days’.
One of the successful collaborations of the Players Theatre was their involvement in television’s long running tribute to music hall ‘The Good Old Days. This well-loved series ran for thirty years from 1953 to 1983, spearheaded by Barney Colehan who succeeded in bringing to his shows both minor and major artistes from the British Isles and the Continent. A highlight of the evening’s show were the scena’s performed by the Players’, in addition many of the Players artistes performed in solo or duet acts. Leonard Sachs was not only the chairman at Leeds City Varieties but also a founder of the original Players’ Theatre Club. Doreen Hermitage, late Chair of the British Music Hall Society, was the choreographer at the Players’ Theatre and also at the ‘Good Old Days’ at Leeds City Varieties."
